Would you up date us on the plant stats for: height & circumference at base/crown:
Cali gold Veinte Cohol Patupi Iholena Tigua Raja Puri Gran Nain My Gran Nain & 1000 Finger (9ft & 38") are huge now, but no bud. This would give me something to shoot for next year in size and knowing when the plant is ready to bud. ... Going to pour fertilizer & potassium out like it was water. (... to hell with guide lines, I'm going to write my own.) Last edited by edwmax : 11-29-2017 at 01:17 PM. |

Fruiting sizes 2017
Girth I measured around only the pstem at the base of the plant. Height is measured from the highest part of the peduncle to the ground. Of the multiple bunches i selected the largest plant! The DO, Gran Nain, and VC were the largest ever! The ones labeled “Spring pup” were either planted this 2017 spring or they came up from a corm (established) Variety: Girth: Height: Gran Nain 35” inches. 7’ ft 4” Spring Pup (established) Sweetheart. 43” inches 10’ ft 0” Spring pup (established) Blue java 28” inches. 12’ ft 9” Veinte Cohol 27” inches. 7’ ft 7” All 14 spring pups (some established) Dwarf Orinoco 37” inches. 6’ ft 10” Cali Gold. 34” inches. 5’ ft 8” Varigated Dwarf Namwa 38” inches. 8’ ft 4” Tigua. 27” inches. 12’ ft 6” Spring pup Patupi 29” inches. 8’ ft 4” All spring pups Raja puri 37” inches. 7’ ft 10” Large spring pups. (3’) SDC 26” inches 3’ ft 2” Planted late spring. Huge corm from JD! Thanks JD.

Thanks Erik!!
I’ve had a taste of all of it i think. Some very good bananas! FHIA 3 Sweetheart was good but not great. It has a insane lemon taste! FHIA 1 Were amazing as always. They weren’t filled enough, but still amazing. VC I’m so sick of VC after 13-14 bunches of VC I’m not sure if i will ever eat another lol. Gran Nain was good as always. Not filled as good as last year. Blue Java was AMAZING! very very sweet! And very creamy! No vanilla flavor though! Raja Puri is good. Very fruity taste to me. Very tropical and sweet. Iholena Tigua. These were fluffy for some reason? Same great flavor just fluffy like a cav? Why?? Sounds crazy but could they be over-filled? And the WINNER!! By far is PATUPI! My new Favorite! Comparing to goldfinger they win. They have the classic “banana” flavor that i love times x100 wow! Texture is amazing! Not mushy at all! Almost “crisp”. They stay firm and don’t bruise easy. Amazing banana. I will have about 20 of these in the ground next year! I sent a few to a couple friends. I hope they report what they think about them here!

Rob, do the Silver Bluggoe taste any different from the regular Bluggoe? I'm guessing not.

I've never done side by side tasting, but my sense is they are very much like others in the group I have grown and tasted, such as Largo & Kluai Hak Muk Khieo.
