There are three bunches right now: #1 from July 5th, #2 from Sept and #3 from October. So we will see, my guess is that at least #2 and #3 have to be bagged over the winter. Maybe we all will prefer the Namwah fruits of my other mat over the Blue Java if Rob and Dan are right.

In my zone 10b I have eaten fruit that's been dormant for two or three months the fruit is always dry sometimes tough and not as sweet, a taste test should be preformed on a plant that flower to harvest doing the warm months.

Looking thru my banana plants, I found my first pup on the ice cream/namwah. I still don't know what it really is. The person who sold it to me said that the fruit tastes like vanilla ice cream.

Then it can't be Ice Cream or Namwah

Does not look like Ice Cream. Too much of that pinking color.

I am not having my hopes high that its an ice cream variety. I would rather it be a namwah, but I am cool with whatever it is.

New suckers that break the surface including Blue Java may have red/pink color until they receive enough sunlight. These are photos of my Namwah notice how they both have different shapes and colors there from the same corm.

Having come to this conclusion doesn't it make everybody wonder why so many people want this thing?

It's the miracle of marketing. Label an exotic name like blue java with the down home comfort name ice cream and heads begin to swoon. Gotta have it, gotta have it, gotta have it!!!

This is true

For me after the first harvest it was more about the blue green fruit, one of the two mats located 20' from the street, when it had fruit it got a lot of attention from people walking by, on bicycles and even cars would slow down.

I've concluded that Namwah is probably hardier than Ice Cream/Blue Java. Misi Luki Namwah is recovering faster from the cold snap, but both still are alive.

My Namwah and Ice Cream are recovering from our cold snap too. It got down to 62.6 last week, the coldest in a year! Fortunately the low is back around 68-69 again, though I prefer lower :-)

62.6? How cute. We got down to 25 three or four times.
