Well my banana plant broke and the stem that holds the fruit split in the middle. Should I cut off the hands?

Can you post a photo so we can see what stage it was at and how bad the damage is?

Cut them down and stick them in a paper bag with a couple apples. They will turn yellow in a week or so. Sometimes Orinoco doesn't turn yellow for me when picked early and will go from green to Black hanging. I recommend ripening a hand at a time as you need them. As they yellow I normally take the yellow hand out and place a next green hand in! Fresh bananas for the next month!
Good luck!

If there is any connection in the flower stem to the bunch, let them be. They will continue to mature and then ripen if there is still some connection left.
