The soil in the pot looks saturated. Make sure the soil drains well and the pot has lots of holes for the water to drain out. The one sure way to kill banana plants is overwatering in a pot. Be careful.

Do I need to perform any surgery to get the other leaves off and unplug the psedostem so new leaves can sprout from the top. Or will they sprout regardless??

Let that pot dry out! Way too wet for a new pup with limited roots. That plant wont push leaves until roots establish.. roots and corm will rot in wet conditions like that. Dry it out and see how the plant responds..

I now have a clearer view of the centre of the pesudostem. But it appears hollow, I cannot see any new leaves sprouting from the top. My Musa Basjoo sprouts 1.5 leaves a week, so I am not sure how slow this pup will be?? I did what you said and I am letting the soil dry out. Any ideas how long til a new new leaf starts sprouting from the top?? |
