Has anyone growing a variegated Tani ever produced an all white offshoot?
I've had thousands of offshoots but never a completely white one. It's rare for me to even get a heavily variegated offshoot. If anyone has pics please post them. Thanks

I've been growing it for about 20 years but have never had an all-white pup.

I'm going into my third year with my PR Tanee, it's around 12' high, I have to get on a ladder to fully enjoy it's variegation these days. It's in a 25 gallon pot in my greenhouse. Temps above 50 all winter, but only 3 - 4 hours of mid winter sun which is my main challenge with all my musa. It went dormant on me all late winter and early spring, worrying me - but is pushing leaves once again. My two goals are obviously fruiting it, and getting some pups, time will tell! woo hoo!

Vertical Propagation is the least invasive way of accomplishing this, and smaller plants are quicker and easier to work with. If you're starting with a pup/rhizome, as it roots and starts growing start raising the soil level. First thing you'll notice is new roots will form on the recently buried pseudostem and because the growing point is always above the highest root, the old or starting rhizome can be removed and used for propagation without having a negative impact on the plants growth. By doing it this you'll be going into your third year with a few thousand pups while waiting for your original plant to flower.
