Thumbs up Very New. Thinking to start growing bananas in Africa?

Hi, as the title says, I am thinking to start growing bananas in East Africa. The main downside is that it does not rain the ideal amount. Of course I have to find some good land but my main concern is the rain as it only rains a few mm per year (average).

I would like to know if this is feasible so I would really appreciate some advice or if someone could point me in the right direction.

With that little rain, you are going to need to irrigate about 300 liters of water per plant per week, depending on your location.

Where exactly are you located in East Africa?

Thank you for your advice. I am based in Somalia. 300 litres per week sounds like an awful lot. I thought my largest concern would be finding fertile land.

Is there any reference material that you would recommend?

P.s. thank you everyone.

Fruiting bananas originated in Burma in an area where the annual rainfall averages 3 meters per year.

Are you saying that this is not feasible then?

I think he's saying it's going to be a challenge.

Are you up for it?

Oh, it is feasible ... but not likely profitable unless you have a Free and steady source of water.
