I am here to soak up all that there is to know.
In about two weeks i am putting in 60-70 banana plants of three different types for a small sales plan. i have been composting carbonized rice husks, cow manure.untreated rice husks. and rice straw and all my 3 ares of yard waste for 6 months now. It breaks down pretty quick any thoughts on something i have missed. I have also added 25 gallons of EM to my compost pile at the start. I will be mixing this into the soil i have as it is quite sandy to about the 2-3 ft level. |

I think you should stick with your plan.. You have to add organic matter to sand for banana's to grow since they are heavy feeders.

Hi, Thaibanana,
I am also from the tropics - but on the other side of the world. What varieties are you putting in? ...and why only three for your pilot project? Maybe a few more clumps of other varieties might let you know which ones prefer your fields and which you should stay away from? Are you an organic grower? And are you growing for whole fruit - or are you going to process your output? Hope to hear more from you. shannon shannon.di.corse@gmail.com |

I am putting in a cavindish and a couple of the thai banana i will find real name and post when they go into the ground. I will be growing for the fruit for markets and personal consumption. The thai people are real piticular about everything not into trying new things so going to start with what i know will sell. They should be going in the ground in about two weeks. this is something to do until i get my vanilla plants in |
