Hello, Welcome, Happy Nanner Hunting.. Your selection depends on how much your willing to protect it come winter.. Then you can choose between etible or not such. :^)

in ground or big pot???dwarf cav. are good in bigger container..for eating or just for show??A seeded ornamental might be right up your ally..welcome and keep everone up to date..enjoy and

I'm looking for an edible variety, I already have to protect my Carnivorous plants in the winter so protecting the banana plant won't be to hard of a task. I would like to be able to plant it in ground but could get permission to use one of the two large pots (or buy a new one). Any idea which species would do best? Thanks!

Dear Hi, I live in Koxville Tn. zone 7 and Musa Basjoo are hardy and do very well. The first year they should form a mat (I call them colonies) and get more every year. Clinch View Golf Course has a mat of MB at every tee box. They are care free and produce nice plants. Shular1

I would grow a dwarf. Bananas will not take the cold winters of zone 7. You will need to bring it inside in the winter

I'm leaning toward the Dwarf Orinoco, I should be able to get it to grow outside fairly well. Unfortunately I won't be able to bring it in during winter, unless I would like to move out lol. Our front yard is facing south with full sun most of the day, and areas of shade on one of the side yards. So will the plant be able to fruit if grown outside with winter protection? Thanks!

Don't Know About Growing Nanners Outside In Zone 6.none Of My Plants Will Take Temps Below 30 One Will Take Temps As Low As 20 Or So They Claim. I Keep Mine In Pots Around My Pool.we Don't Have That Much Weather Below 30 Where I Live Anyway
