Please allow me to introduce myself, I live a little south of Dallas, Texas (zone 8a). I have 2 of what I am being told are tall Namwas. I bought them last year as tiny tissue cultures from Wellspring Gardens as Blue Java, but you know that conversation already. I have them in 45 gal grow bags and they are 7 and 9 feet tall. I over wintered them in the garage last winter. They are putting on about a leaf and a half a week. I am using the banana fuel from Wellsprings every 2 weeks and fish emulsion every week. No fruit yet but tons of pups.
I have a couple of questions for you guys please. Are the 45 gal bags big enough as a final size? When do I dig the pups up? Dug up 2 already but they didn't have any roots. Thank you all, love the site. Last edited by Hammy : 06-30-2020 at 01:51 PM. |

Hey Hammy.. welcome to the site! You and I are in near identical situations.. I too purchased the blue java from wellspring, and they are namwah as expected.. just trying to figure out if they are tall namwah or dwarf.. I understand the dwarf can have a 7-9ft Pstem, which mine are about at right now. Im thinking they are likely tall namwah. Time will tell. My plants are in the ground, and are being pushed pretty hard with 13/13/13 fertilizer.. ive had countless pups on each one, some of which have a 4ft Pstem and 7' overall height already. I removed over 20 pups from 6 of my plants a few weeks ago, none of which had roots either despite being 2-3 ft tall overall. I just removed a few new pups last week, and 2 of 6 had a few roots, and appear to be healthy in the pot. I think perhaps the main corm has to grow a but more, as the pups appearing now appear bigger and healthier. Good luck growing your plants, and post up a few pictures!

You first need to upload pics to your gallery. Then copy and past the "bulletin board" link from each picture. There is prob and easier way, but that's how I know to do it. When you are writing your post, click on the paperclip at the top of the post window.. that will direct you to a link to upload to your gallery.

Welcome to the Bunch. .... When you remove a pup from the mother corm, you need to take a piece of the mother corm too. It you just cut straight down you will cut the roots off. Look for youtub clips showing how to do it.
To upload pics, be sure to read the file size and name requirements on the upload page. Most all digital camera & cell phone pic need to be reduced in size. I suggest using 100 to 150 DPI and 4"X6" paper size for fast loading on the web. This would be about 300 to 450 Kb file size. .... After uploading states it was successful, check your gallery page for the image count to make sure the image is in the gallery. |
