Default Hello from Folly Beach, SC!

Well, I have kind of stumbled on to the banana thing - I bought a property with about five 6' tall banana plants growing on it. The first year, I lost all of them down to the ground, and was pleasantly surprised when they grew back. That summer I was able to create a second area in my yard with the pups and put a couple in pots to keep inside over winter. Well, the following winter was mild and I only lost a couple of the younger plants. So by July of this summer, I had about 15 thriving plants and decided to google "banana plant".
While I quickly learned how to better care for these beautiful plants, I also learned (this is embarassing to admit) that bananas actually came from these plants! So, I googled a bit more and followed advice to add chicken manure and a dose of ammonium sulfate. That was a month ago - today I happened to look up and I have bananas! Nothing in my yard has given me as much joy as the sight of one my banana planst actually producing bananas!
Of course, this immediately sent me back to google, where I realized that most of the sites that I had referred to before did not contain the detailed information that would tell me what to do next should the plants actually produce bananas. Then I found exactly what I was looking for when I found this site.
I am sure that I will be reading many of the past posts on this site until the wee hours of the morning, so thanks in advance to everyone for sharing their knowledge and also for your patience when I start asking questions - remember, I didn't know the plant produced bananas until a few months ago, so I have a lot to learn
