Default Will it make it?

New here! Just had our banana plant snap at the base. We suspect that a caterpillar had weakened it and the wind finally snapped it. We have had this plant for about 4 years, so it is near and dear to us. I am curious if this "stump" will recover? We repotted the part that broke off, as it looked like it was rooting a bit in hopes that it would recover. I guess only time will tell. Any tips would be appreciated. We do have a nice pup from this plant, so all is not lost if this big guy does not recover.
