I have always used Miracle Grow potting soil with equal parts of perlite, which helps with air ration and drainage, with winter coming up I just wanted to mention to be careful with watering over...

I agree, NEVER use mothballs in a garden as they are toxic. A small decorative fence would work great and look good, unless "said dog is a Great Dane" and could stepped right over a fence LOL

You need to give the plant more time to get itself established, there's a lot going on underground that you can't see, just leave it be for a while. A picture would help.

I've been using Miracle Grow plant food on my container grown Musa Zebrina for years and I do the 1/2 as edwmax advised.

I think the Zebrina is a good candidate for indoors but she must have a decent amount of sun for her colors to get bold and vibrant...

Ditto to what Sixtysix posted, that is exactly what I do with my Zebrina every year, I put her in front of my south facing window, just be very careful with the watering, I killed my first one years...
