my naners are dying from the cold!
I have about 10 or 11 bananas in the garage potted. They are under a grow light and a heat lamp now. in e texas the cold front has hit hard. I cant bring em indoors because we live way out in the country with propane heating. Is there anything I can do?

Re: my naners are dying from the cold!
I'd try wrapping the pots with heavy blankets and DON'T water, that will only freeze the roots. I'm sure other members will have more advice for you..

I don’t understand why you can’t bring them inside your house. Or how about adding an electric heater to the garage.

Re: my naners are dying from the cold!
I figured the propane would kill them.

If the propane does not kill you, I am sure it will be safe for the naners!

Re: my naners are dying from the cold!
Bybroduct is CO2 and other stuff. Should not be an issue unless your heater is not running correctly. But be careful with it killing you.

Re: my naners are dying from the cold!
Propane is used in many greenhouse heating applications.
Safe for plants. The chemical which gives it the distinct smell is harmless. While the concentrated carbon monoxide that is created during combustion will kill humans and animals(anything with blood) in enclosed spaces a plant will convert it to carbon dioxide which is beneficial for some additional growth. Some serious cannabis growers inject their grow rooms/tents/ with co2 for some seriously tasty buds. There is a little science and growing skills when using this practice. A further internet search can give a better explanation on how co2 is beneficial for your all your plants. Last edited by cincinnana : 11-16-2019 at 12:22 PM. Reason: clarification |
