The corm weevil, grubs bore through the corm.
Traps must be set out to catch weevils. Clean up any dead debris, dead leaves, anything...

hmm, my guess would be some kind of bug, aphids? maybe spider mites??? I am leaning more on mites as the cause.
Mites live underside the leaves,{soil} in dry conditions, they start on the outer edges...

That particular Banana is several years old, kept from flowering to maintain maximum height.

That particular Banana is watered by "drip emitter", so its being watered 24 hours a day. Lots of manure, chicken poo, planted on top of a huge compost pile of mulch,leaves,soil, drainage is super....

It's actually a Basjoo, however when Hurricane Ike came through our area, it ravaged the leaves. I will look to see if I have another picture of the tops, if I don't, I will go back out...

I would leave the leaves and culms on the ground, bamboo has silicon dioxide (SiO2) that the plant needs. When the culms fall to the ground, the silicon is recycled back into the plant.
