Oh, but Gabe, my Dwarf Cavendish plant is roughly 2 months old and still has the ring of 3 small leaves back from when it was a pup.

Yeah, then it's probably rot. Bananas don't like their roots soaked in water for too long.

Dwarf Cavendish or Dwarf Ladyfinger should work. The Dwarf Cavendishes will grow up to your ceiling and have purple spots on their leaves when they're younger, while the Dwarf Ladyfinger is shorter...

For your old leaves, they usually dry out. I'm not very familiar with Musa Basjoo, but edible bananas get rid of their older leaves by putting a split down them and drying out. For your soapy mix,...

I'm pretty sure if the rot's not affecting the inside of the corm and it's only the outside that is rotting, then your plant should be fine.

Agreed, looks like a SDC. Regular Dwarf Cavendish plants have their leaves more spread out and are taller.

Nope, growing this plant in Canada, although the newest leaf has been a little narrow, to say the least. The most recent leaf like a spear tip.
