this is the time of year to do it. the first plant will be smaller and smaller fruit anyway so take some pups off. just a few from one side and leave the biggest pup.

yep the blankets were touching, if I cover anything this year I will use some type of frame. most likely will just mulch the base and see what happens.

no protection, and no pstem damage usually. all the leafs die and I let them be ugly all winter then clean them up in the spring.

I covered some bananas last winter with blankets and they got more...

sorry I did not finish the time line, lost all but 4 fingers to rot. in the last pic you can see the start of the black rot, caused by sunburn.

That sucks. had one plant that twisted 75 deg in the soil. The plant was leaning N W, now almost east. Luckily I was outside and able to support it; I hope it holds for the night.
