I noticed something interesting today when I went outside. It seems really small, so I was oping for a flag leaf, but with the crazy weather we have been having it could be a sick leaf.
Recently we have been getting one arctic storm/blast per week (for the last 3 weeks) They come in and take the temps down to the 50s during the day for a couple days and then recovers to the 80s by the weekend. So here is the picture of the leaf halfway open. Opinions? ![]()

After a cold period the leaves sometimes are misshapen, like BBTD, but without the morse-coding.

I don't think it to be a flag. The flag you mention is just a little bit smaller
than the normal leaf. A flag leaf should be more than 1/3 of the present leaf. |

We'll see. After it has finished unfurling I think it will be about 1/3 of normal... I will post updates soon. If I get another leaf I am going to be depressed lol
didn't realize until now how wind damaged they are those 50mph winds doing a number on them

Enigma, I'm going thru the same thing w/my IC. It's the same one I put in 65 gal jackpot last year (container forum....'need a large pot ASAP')
Mine just put out a small leaf & I thought it was a flag, but now there is a new leaf coming out of that & is taking its lil old time coming out to unfurl. Ppl have told me that the leaf before the flag is smaller than normal....so....I can only think that my next (and YOURS) will be the true flag! I think we are having ..the- leaf- before- the -flag! ![]()

Thank you Tony (Sunfish). You are the one that told me about the 'shorter leaf before the flag'.
Enigma, I'm rooting for both of us!!!!!

I see it better now but can't tell. Did you see my pic? .. of what I thought was the flag? I too was dissappointed to see another leaf coming, so you still may have the small leaf before the flag. The new leaf here is about 7 inches up & already unfurling...obviously smaller than last small leaf. Sunfish says you'll see some bulging at top of p stem when flower is pushing thru.
YIPPPEEEEEE If this isn't your flag, the next will be ![]()

It's hard to tell how big the leaf is by those pics cause it isn't even out all the way. I see no reason to suspect it's a flag until it is fully out and you can tell it's clearly smaller. Let's hope for a flag or pre-flag, though!

Didn't have time last wkend to post pics, but I did take pics. Cam is still at Mikes house. It wasn't unfurled yet when I came home Mon. It's got to be the worlds smallest flag LOL.
