Default Just a little windy here

Could someone do a no wind dance for me please! This is an actual action shot of 5 large Hawaiian Apple plants being broken in half by heavy winds from the north west. My plants are not used to the wind coming from that direction.

Just after they broke.

And after the emergency cleanup to remove some of them from our phone line.

Young fruit bunches.

So all you locals that want some really tall plants and large pups for free can come help me remove this stand this spring. I'm officially done growing tall bananas. In this wind I lost 2 bunches of young fruit and it looks like the last bunch standing will be coming down sometime tonight. The winds are supposed to be 70 mph tonight. Hopefully it doesn't break anything!

Really sorry to see that man. I hope all ends well. Denver is being punched by the NW right now. Raining hard and will soon turn into a huge snow storm >_<. Just let those winds come here, and may be the storm will move by faster!

That's really sad. The fencing clearly helps break the wind, protected everybody planted near it. Radar doesn't show much action going on over there, but apparently something is coming down from the north causing strong winds??

It's not their fault, poor plants!

That sucks. had one plant that twisted 75 deg in the soil. The plant was leaning N W, now almost east. Luckily I was outside and able to support it; I hope it holds for the night.

This caught me by surprise. It does happen this time of year but it's just slightly breezy and then....... bam
......what the heck is this? It's like super gusts that come out nowhere!

5 short power outages so far.

So sorry about that. That's sucks. My plumerias that are in 15-gallon containers have been blown over a bunch of times in the last few days, but there are only a few broken branches thankfully. It's usually windy this time of year. I'm just glad that there are no major fires being fueled. I'm sorry about your losses. I hope your plants will be all right.

I had a tall red that did the same thing. I propped it for months until a wind came from an odd drection and finished it off. The fruit still ripened and tasted great though!

Hey, at least you were able to get it some support. I guess this is a sign that tall bananas aren't in your near future, lol.

Dang...I'm sorry to hear about that! Wind isn't really my friend either (and definitely isn't the friend of bananas!). I would switch to a dwarf species and then you probably won't have these issues. Too bad, cause tall bananas are nice.

Someone must have done the dance just right because the winds mellowed out and no more bananas were lost last night!

Yeah, you see that patch of moderate/heavy snow on the map?! That's me. like 6 inches downtown already, and we usually get a bubble of less snow than the rest of the state
