Re: Is it Time?
Those will probably ripen fine if you harvested them now, but at less than 6 months in So Cal (not the tropics), I'd wait until you see a finger start to turn yellow. The fastest any variety has...

Re: Is it Time?
Mine never take more than 6 months so it's probably fine. They look pretty plump. It wouldn't hurt to wait until at least 1 is obviously yellow. You probably won't go wrong either way.

Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)
This Dwarf Brazilian was a runt compared to my others. The PStem is only around 5 feet tall. It didn't receive nearly as much water as the others. From planting to flowering was 16 months. The...

I got it yesterday in the mail. :08: I bought it from Palmscenter.de in Germany.
It had 3 leaves on it, but 2 of them were broken off during transportation, so now it just looks rather weird with...

Re: Pups and flowering
I know it will be a long wait, but you are better off to wait until after you harvest. I got a little greedy with getting some suckers once and my plants got toppled in the wind because I had...

Re: Pups and flowering
I would not do it during flowering. After the male phase begins, OK. Any stress during flowering affects fruit size and quantity.

Re: Dwarf Brazilian questions
For me they are always 6 months. Unless it is a massive bunch it looks like it will touch the roof but should fit or just cause the plant to lean some to accommodate the growing bunch. Congrats!

Re: DC or California Gold?
California Gold plants never display red splotches. I'd guess that both of yours are Dwarf Cavendish.
Being in Anaheim I would suggest you try something other than California Gold anyways.

Nick could answer this question with authority since he grows commercially often using TC'd plants, but I think the recommendations I've seen for commercial growers suggest about 1' of p-stem before...

Gee... reminds me of a story...
Once upon a time there was an old llama herder. About once a month he'd go down into town to grab supplies & have a beer.
While in the saloon he was digging in his...
