Re: Fabric grow bag advice

I tried them out several years ago. I found out they are harder to move than other containers, even with the handles which eventually ripped off, because the fabric does break down after a couple...

Re: Tomato suckers are not rooting in water. Ideas?

I stick the cutting directly into moist soil, and they seem to almost always take root, if they have the root nodes on the stem.

I've been growing the Thai Black here in WI for about 5 years now, in a very large container. One thing I've noticed is that the purple (black) p-stem gets the color even when very young. I have...

The Red Tiger is a sikkimensis musa variety, I have one and it is for the ornamental aspect. There are seeded bananas that produce edible fruit, but you have to eat around the seeds and not bite...

I just put the tops into the fast drain potting soil right away. The roots are already there and I have several growing now for a couple of years.

Water as you would any bromeliad.

Re: cutting pseudo stem to reduce height of indoor container plant?

My Black Thai was over 8 ft. tall, so I cut the stem down to about 1/2. Instead of cutting it straight off, I carefully cut each ring of the pseudostem removing each leaf, until I got to the...

Mine doesn't have any red in it. But if it was outside in direct sunlight, maybe it would. It just seems happy sitting in my east window getting morning sun.

Doesn't look like mine. They get a very dark purple p-stem as they mature. The stems are green when they first come out.
