Re: My landlord is making me get rid of my bananas!

I know its a drag-I would be bummed out if my landlord told me
I had to stop growing palms in the front yard....btw

Heres another thought,if she won't change her mind about you
growing your nanars...

Re: My landlord is making me get rid of my bananas!

I agree...and telling someone they can't grow plants inside is pretty crappy
find another place where you can be happy.

BTW-I was kidding about leaving the heat on and air-conditioning and what...

Re: Musa Saba Banana

Hey Alex

I am guessing between 12-15' for mine next year...
If Basjoos can grow to 11'+ in one year why not a larger Banana
plant with a 6' head start be at least 12'

I guess thats it-if it grows...

Re: Musa Saba Banana

Wow

Thats a lot!

I don't store that many but I do use a dolly to get the big Abyssinian downstairs...
luckily it's not to hard to bring up as it is lighter after 6 months in the basement .

Bananas Brindando Re: Musa Saba Banana

Mine will go in the basement next year instead of upstairs/inside.

When you see how big banana plants can get,it's worth it to
lug them around a little to have 12-15' plants during the long growing...

It has put out a leaf and looks healthy-
the leaf is toughing the ceiling 8' up.....
I can't wait to see how big this gets this year,
I am guessing at least 12 but maybe...

Re: I think it's getting ready to bloom

I agree....look for a reduction in leaf size, then the flag leaf.
A bulge at the top is a good indication but I think you would
notice a difference in the newest leaves first.

Re: Ensete Maurellii

MG can seriously burn the leaves-used full strength-
I wouldn't use it anymore than half strength.

Re: Ensete Maurellii

Where do you live and are you fertilizing it?

Mine has seen upper 90s to 100 and is not burning.
Some of the leaves look papery in the heat though....
but are in good health.

Re: Musa AE AE pictures & question

Interesting how much your big Ae Ae is stretching out between
each leaf...it's putting on quite a bit of height with each new leaf.

Time for a second story on you g-house!:nanadrink:

Re: Uncovered basjoos in zone 6

Basjoo that I really wasn't to concerned about....

These can be pretty...
