I got together with Rene, (Greenie), recently and we decided to use some of my Ae Ae pups for a project. We're going to see how many pups we can get out of 7 mature plants. I know they have a little ways to go before they reach maturity, but it will be fun to watch them grow. Maybe we will come up with a contest or something a little down the road, for an Ae Ae pup? Who knows what tomorrow will bring! Anyway, we spent the better part of two days adding irrigation, and then getting the soil ready for planting. We added all kinds of good stuff! We even had time for three hours of Frisbee golf, and a couple of good meals. Here's what it looked like when we finished planting them today:

Between the Greenie and Nanaman those Ae's will be sky high in no time!
May their pups bring pleasure to others as much as I have enjoyed mine.

From all that I have read and heard about the AE AE banana I am impressed with how beautiful the foilage is. I would think being in what appears to be full sun in south Florida the leaves would burn easily. Very nice, are you feeding them something special to deal with stress? silica or a silica based suppliment maybe?

Awesome. I hope to have a similar project someday -- maybe on a slightly smaller scale due to budget constraints. I have two questions for you: do your leaves get burned in that sun exposure, and how far apart are they planted from each other. Thanks.

They do get a little burnt, but nothing to cry about. Look closely at the largest plant. They are planted 6' apart as they are only being grown to produce pups!
