How did you grab it? No poisonous snakes yet at my place but expect one someday. Last deadly snake I handled was a bamboo viper. Killed him quick.

We used a broom/rake to get him in a deep sterlite box. Did not want to take any chances. Usually there is a rattlesnake in our yard every year, but even though the dogs have been trained in a rattlesnake avoidance class ( I highly recommend that if you have rattlesnakes around), they get relocated to an unpopulated area. People are too quick with killing snakes, but snakes do take care of the rodent population.
Over the years we have seen many different snakes here, usually king snakes, gopher snakes and garter snakes, usually we keep them around or relocate them before the neighbor puts them on his BBQ...

I've had BBQ rattler a couple of times at a restaurant. It was pretty good.

I really need to find my phone to computer cord. Last night I didn't bother recording a Cuban frog hanging on my needs to be replaced and not air tight sliding glass door. I saw him when I flipped on the kitchen light; I swear he was silently yelling "Elaine, Elaine" which is not my name but because I'm old the Graduate came to mind immediately. I think I imagined the glass rattling--perhaps not--he was pretty beefy and didn't flinch when I rapped on the glass.

I have very shamefully mistreated pups that came to me in a roundabout way from our Worm Farmer 2 years ago; 2 are now in the ground and the last survivor (a plantain) will be soon. (I lost 1 or 2 for several reasons beyond my control; shame on me...)

But I digress...

Today I notice a frog nestled in the new leaf of the Namwah that has perked up; sadly it's a Cuban which means, I believe, that I'm really glad I didn't bring Jack along from Jacksonville despite his great efforts to accompany me. Shame. I like the green guys very much...the gray guys are boring...

I am not the biggest fan of ground squirrels. Fighting with them over my vegetable garden and they usually win.
This baby one was very cute though, but a crow got it right in front of my eyes.
I guess I hate the crows even more....

Even if I could find my cord it wouldn't help; according to the friend who was watching while I ran to get my phone a mockingbird chased him/her off. (If you've never been attacked by a MB or catbird, you have no idea just how viscous those fairly small birds are.)

What him/her you may ask? A barred owl! Sitting on the power lines in my backyard! 20 feet from me in the waning daylight. We locked eyes! I was captivated; I'm not sure he/she was also but nobody flinched for at least 5 minutes. I was raised in the country and have lived on/visited several farms in my long life and have heard owls but never ever seen one before. Maybe I did but not that close. Majestically huge and beautiful!

I truly live on the edge of an Enchanted Forest.

This is a fly I found on my asimina triloba. I've never seen this before. It's definitely got a large badonkadonk.

If you are referring to the big-butt fly in the above post, I never said it was a girl. I referred to the creature as "it"

Yes I know but generally that term refers to females, doesn't it? (I had to look it up.)
