Hmmm... Crickets fondue (in chocolate), Caiman (it was him or me), the aforementioned palm grubs, Lemon Ants (raw), Popcorn Termites (tastes like peanuts), Konjac jelly noodles, Haggis (never again).

My favourite dishes, however, are a tad more mundane. I'm particularly fond of goat, marinated for two days in pilsener beer, then slow roasted with achiote paste.

You'll be eating adventurous things once you're in China, rest assured! As Tog pointed out, they consider rocks to be inedible, but everything else is fair game.

Ok gang, 'nuff wrecking and let Patty take a breather..., we can go all the way in a new thread on Weird Food which I just started - Weird Food - Care to share?

I see Lorax came in and you guys had a ball of a time while I took a shut eye (we are 13hrs diff). Scot, Bob is one heck of a closet wrecker, acting innocent that food got him in! He is soo convincing that I just have to believe him.

Come on and go the big gang bang on the new thread - wreck it any way you see fit!

Another squirrel in trap...2nd this week and 2 last week. I thought I got rid of the coons, but something turned the trap upside down and sideways to get at the squirrel last night. Only thing to do this would be a coon.
COON hunting...again.
Maybe I should leave squirrel in trap for bait!

Way to go Patty! 4 tree rats!! Stake down the trap with wire, but yes they would make good bait, just make sure they don't escape!!

Patty, if I had your coon problem I'd turn it in to a lot of fun. Why not hunt them like a leopard? Leave a baited trap(live squirrel or otherwise) out at night set yourself up in a nearby hiding spot having bathed with unscented soap or better yet using a scent shield type spray for bow hunters. Have either a small light on it or better yet one rigged that you can gradually turn up to high simulating the moon. Get the raccoon in your sights and nail it with a high powered break open air rifle...............aaaaah good times (and you don't have to endure an 18 hour flight).

If you hadn't guessed the economic crisis prevented me from going back there for a Buffalo hunt.

Fun idea Bob! I won't have to go thru all that work though. If moon is not full, I'll leave lite on at back door & all I have to do is open the door & shoot. They just look at me (when I've done this before) like "what are you looking at". Last month I shined a flashlite out at one that was circleing the trap w/ a coon inside. I turned it off & that sucker came right up to the door & looked in window on his hind legs!! I woulda shot him but my pellet gun is not working & I really don't think a 22c pellet would do much. Mike is thinking of buying me a 22 gun.
BTW, the squirrel in trap is dead. They seem to go for them when they're dead. The trap is set & I gotta go away for 2 days. I'm sure it'll be ugly when I return.
Last summer I left a squirrel tied up in plastic bags outside on deck & forgot to put it in garbage cart. Next day the bag ripped open, squirrel parts all over the deck - stomach ripped open ...it was gross!
So that is my food chain here : sq eat my fruit & veggies, coon eat squirrel, me kill coon.
Where you go Buffalo hunting? Montana - Wyoming? We only have buffalo farms here.

No I was scheduled to go on an African Cape Buffalo (meanest animal on earth next to the common shrew)hunt and the money I had "saved" for years dissapeared with the market. Funny thing the day I called My Professional hunter(what they call a guide in Africa) Jarred had advertised some of his plants and I bought an African Rhino Horn from him figuring it was fate. Even talked to him on the phone a while that day after getting a deer with the bow(September). Well as fate turned out at least I stiill have the plantain. So thats my inspiration for planning your"hunt".

Bob, I came home Sat & nothing in trap -- it was still set & dead squirrel was still in it (YUK).
Had to leave then & came home today & guess what I found?
There's a big ugly possum in trap. The squirrel is almost gone. And here I thought it was the coons after the dead ones! I will have to hose the remaining guts out before I give possum a swimming lesson - I don't want guts in my pond. Or, should I send it to you for your game feast?!!

You guys should soak those squirrels in a crock pot overnight, covered in Italian salad dressing, and fry them with a beer batter. mmmmmmmmmm Same goes for rabbit.

I'll bet Tog & Lorax never ate possum & they ate all kinds of things!
I can't imagine either.
I have a friend in LA who really offered some squirrel recipes ... he says they eat them all the time!

Possum is a gourmet dish here, you pay a premium. It's called Huanchaka. Very tasty.

This is Possum #13

He was opening his mouth like he wanted to take a chunk out of me. Thank God my piece-of-junk camera didn't pick up the left-over squirrel in there!
When you see them walking, they look like big rats...not as big or vicious as a coon. This guy would be eating my garden at night this summer...when the coons are away.
I should send this to PETA ppl.
Scot, I just saw your youtube videos you posted & watched all of them. My speakers aren't working so had to get it on Mike's puter today. What a bunch of idiots they are!!!!! Sorry to say I never heard of PETA before.
