They call them Easter lilies only because they're forced bulbs, made to bloom indoors at Easter time.

Here's mine this morning...

Question Re: What is blooming in your garden today (other plants)?

Now for something completely different. I had bought a very young Alocasia odora a while ago. All you could see was a hint of green coming up from the soil. I planted it behind the waterfall in a shady part of the garden that only gets morning sun. As it grew I realized it was definitely not an Alocasia, but it looked more like a canna or a heliconia. Today I have my answer, I found these gorgeous blooms on my heliconia. My guess is heliconia psittacorum, variety ?? Chime in if you have a clue. To me it looks like a yellow heliconia psittacorum Andromeda.

And just for s**** and giggles, here's the plant's label.

It looks like a rose, but it's moss. Yours opens early. Mine open in the after noon, and the leaves are smaller. The plant is only one inch tall. The runners grow roots.
I just bought it two weeks ago. In a month I will have a dozen - I saver $11.

MusaBoru...

The third one is "Le Reve" Oriental Lily and the fourth one is Stargazer Asiatic Lily. Gorgeous mix you've got there!

Here's my tiny little "Amythest Beautyberry" blossoms. I'll get lots of berries this year...

One of my three "Black Velvet Rose" Geraniums. Was gonna keep this one inside but planted it out recently...

Some of my blooms this morning 7/22/10:
Crepe Myrtle

Sunflower

Wild Morning Glory

Begonia and Purple Heart

Don't know some sort of weed - but I liked the unusual blossoms
