I had never had to deal with them as a major pest until moving to FL. It will be a while before I can build up the soil enough to hopefully improve the issue. Any veg plants in the ground... forget it! Roots so knotted it's unreal. Is Frederick true from seed?
Talk to the guy I sent the link for.He can answer your question on nematodes.P.Frederick is not true from seed.

Tony would know for sure, but I'm pretty positive that Fredericks is a hybrid that is not true from seed. (Ah, I see now that he beat me to the punch, Mr. Passiflora Maniac). My understanding is that it is normally grafted. It is a great plant -- mine is very vigorous and makes great fruit.

Yes it is a hybrid. You will still get fruiting plants from seedlings but you never know how the fruit will be.

That's what I seemed to remember... clones only for Frederick. I didn't realize passiflora was grafted. I'll try the ebay store... thanks for that!

My Thai Lime tree; just stopped blooming, been doing so for a little over a month. It's indoors, so the lighting is pretty dim as the photo was taken at night.

Yacon flower. Now we just need a little cold weather to knock the plant down then it's harvest time!

Hi Migael,

I found this picture very inspiring, so much so that I looked it up at:
Can Queen Emma Crinum Take Shade? | eHow.com

Here is what is funny (quote from the above URL):
"Light
Placing the Queen Emma Crinum Lily in slightly shaded conditions, especially in the heat of
the day, is fine. Planting the Queen Emma in mostly shady conditions causes a long leggy plant
with few blooms, if any. Shade also causes the foliage to fade and look unhealthy. Not providing
the optimum light conditions for this plant will not only result in an ugly plant, but will eventually
weaken it and promote disease.

The funny part is, that you photo shows it growing indoors, obviously in some considerable
shade and it looks anything but "leggy" or "ugly".

Now you have caused me a problem: I have to try and find one up here in Canada to add to my
"tropical planter"

Thanks for the pic.,
Olaf
