Re: What is blooming in your garden today (other plants)?
Toad Lily
A different toad lily. The blooms are actually shades of blue.

A double tropical hibiscus. This is actually a Purple Magic; I guess the cold has caused the color to turn red!
edit- This is actually a Her Majesty. Sorry, my bad.

Re: What is blooming in your garden today (other plants)?
Beautiful, Emily!
This is what I have blooming in our laundry room window today... Does anyone know for sure what it is...a Christmas, Easter, or Thanksgiving cactus? Whatever it is, it's four years old and I love it! The blooms are perfectly snow white & no staining....with pink stamens! Truly special, and the nursery I got it from assured me it was an authentic Christmas cactus, however I am questioning it's true indentity now. : ) |

Re: What is blooming in your garden today (other plants)?
Very pretty, John!
I tinkered around with African Violets awhile back and actually hand-pollinated some of the blooms by dispersing pollen around from many different blossoms... Seed pods begin to swell and grow, and when they turn brown within a few weeks, the seeds inside are ready to be harvested. New colors result from the seeds but if you want new plants from an already exisiting one, leaf cuttings are your best option. : ) |

Emily, that plumeria leaf shape is quite interesting. Do you know the variety?

Howard - I'm not Emily, but I've had that Plumeria. It's Plumeria pudica, evergreen plumeria.

Re: What is blooming in your garden today (other plants)?
HB Lady - It's kind of funny; almost all of my wife's African violets were grown in Ontario. The guy brings them to the Florida shows and then, like most of the exhibitors, at the end of the show, wants to sell off most of their stuff, so they don't have to carry it back. My wife, when she came with me to the show, would always buy a couple and, lately, she has told me to make sure I bring her a couple of violets back. So these plants travel from Ontario to Florida, and back to New York!
