You know, HBL, I've tried twice to grow the Himalayan Blue Poppy without success. They were from mail order plants, not seed, but I'm convinced I am jinxed. :ha:

Re: The Hollyberry Lady's Plants and Flowers

I find them tough too Howard, even growing them from seed. The seedlings are very fragile and spindly at first. I use a mild starter formula to get them going. They can be doing just great then all of sudden die without warning. They are also extremely prone to spider mites so the small plants must be kept showered nearly daily indoors.

I just recently sprouted some more seeds, but here's is my best seedling you can see in this shot I just took today...

It's thriving, but it could be dead in two days from now! This is how sensitive they are. Although the pic doesn't give the true effect, the leaves are actually a bluish/green color and quite unique. I can't wait to see the blooms. I just hope it continues to do well when I put it outside in the garden...

My young Blue Princess Hollyberry shrub with a grafted Blue Prince branch, just before I prune it in a couple weeks. It's packing on some major Spring growth...

Those are my dying back Hyacinth leaves beside the shrub.

These Hollyberries have been intact since last Fall and haven't dropped yet...

New berries will develop soon and I'll show again later after pruning...

Passiflora Quad. ?

The Hollyberry Lady 07-08-2010 11:23 PM

Re: The Hollyberry Lady's Plants and Flowers

Nope, but a good guess Tony, and I can see why you picked it but it's not a passiflora.

: o

Another guess, or shall I tell you? Maybe this close-up will help...

It's going into my garden tomorrow...

Last guess coffee

The Hollyberry Lady 07-09-2010 08:03 AM

Re: The Hollyberry Lady's Plants and Flowers

Good guess, but it's not coffee either. Ok, give up? It's a Tamarillo tree. It will produce fruits similar looking and tasting to tomatoes. Can't wait to try them.

Here's my blooming Easter Lilies this rainy morning...

Thanks for your good guesses, Tony.

Is this a geranium ? I have one that looks like this I got a cutting from my sister I like it great. You sure can grow some nice plants ! Thanks I really enjoy your pictures

Re: The Hollyberry Lady's Plants and Flowers

Thank you, Greg! Glad you enjoy the shots. :waving:

Yup, a Pelargonium is a Geranium. Mine is called Martha Washington "Berry Swirl" and they survive great in a cold sunporch over winter and even bloom! I have three different kinds.

Here's some green Hollyberries from my new "2 in 1" female "Blue Princess" shrub with a grafted male "Blue Prince" branch, eliminating the need for two shrubs! I have two already but bought this one for a friend. Said I wouldn't ruin the surprise by showing the whole bush until they receive it in the mail, but here's a few of the green Hollyberries...

They look like they'll turn red very soon...
