![]() I’m putting several banana plants in my basement there’s a little bit of light that comes through a window but not much it’s downstairs where the furnace is in it gets quite warm down there. My question is will the plants go dormant over the winter or do I have to get a grow light and just keep them going. Do they need cold weather to go dormant or will 78° maybe even 80 at times be OK for them with a little bit of lignt over the winter.

last year my findings was yes, they do. they just didn't look a healthy green due to the lack of sunlight which affected the chlorophyll in the leaf. Variegated plants did as well, but a lot slower. so root rot is an issue with slow growth. its hard to know when to water and stuff. but will hardy bananas like namwa's then they'll grow i think |
