![]() Okay I am taking this to the experts. I brought out my two banana plants from the basement. I live in Maryland and they spent the winter down there. I dug them up in the fall and put them in brown paper bags and had them in the laundry room. So today I planted them. I trimmed and cleaned them up some and so my question is: in peeling off the dry outer crap there is a purple stalk. Did these plants survive or are they done for. Saying a prayer!

![]() Sounds like they lived. Hard to say. Purple is good. Brown snot-like stuff is bad. Pictures would help. If the pstem is solid and green with some reddish purple color then thats a good sign. You will know if they grow in a few weeks. Sounds like if you have that much pstem you should for sure have a corm. If you have a healthy corm worst case you get pups.
Go very easy watering it. Like once every 10 days or so. If you getting rain don't water. After you see new growth you can water more. Good luck and post pics if you can.

Sounds almost normal......Grow them like you stole them... ![]() My plants look similar to yours.....your good.... lot of pink and great reds. Pink means there is still tissue alive and your plant is still alive.... Whites and browns are an indication that there is dead tissue. A sniff test will also determine if there is dead tissue. . ![]() Basjoo spring by Hostafarian, on Flickr Last edited by cincinnana : 04-12-2017 at 09:16 PM. |
