| Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

Thanks! I never knew how amazing this banana was until I started growing it this year! I wish I would have had this great ornamental many years ago. I must thank my good friend Randy for the seeds and for sending me a corm earlier this year. He really deserves all the credit.

I may be slow, but i'm consistent. Sorry for the late post!
About two weeks ago the weather went sideways, rainy and down to 7c low and 12c high for over 8 days. Sounds right for a Vancouver summer. Checked the seeds on the side of the house to find 80% + started to sprout. I've only let them dry out about 3 times this summer.Soil temps up to 39.7c.

Re: OK>>>> Seeds are ready on the velutina!!!
Musa velutina makes a nice grove quickly. This spring I started with one sprouted seed of Randy's (that was 1.5 feet when I planted it in March) along with a few corms that I received in the mail. Here's the grove today! I like the slender leaves compared to musa basjoo. I think this banana grows to the perfect height and is wonderful for smaller yards.
