Definitely want to try again. Based on your results, looks like coarse sand is the way to go. I have a bag of pool sand in my shed, jk. What grain size do you recommend? |

what you want is an aggregate that is about half the size of your little fingernail. what you might try is aquarium gravel. but do not use the smooth surface gravel [looks like river rock], that stays to wet. use the rough irregular aquarium gravel that looks somewhat similar to what he is using. also you will have better results with a 2 1/2 gallon pot versus a small pot. click on the thumbnail for a better picture.

Perhaps you can try “construction sand”. Its a coarser sand that you can find at landscaping places. They use it in chicken coops as well.
PR, I’m willing to try if possible. |

One of the great things about the destructive force of hurricanes is it leaves behind plenty of easily accessible sand and after it's cleaned and classified we have an abundance of clean coarse sand.
Sept 25 When the screen is put under water the smaller grains of sand will fall out. Sept 25 Sept 25

The finer grains of sand do hold more moisture and that is because of the greater surface area.

You're in a very dry climate so maybe pool sand would be better than coarse sand.
I probably should send a pear of Florida.

no, i did alot of enviromental well drilling using silica sand, 20/30... 60/ 40 to name a few. you really have to know what you are doing with it [silica sand] before planting bananas in it. silica sand will let water pass thru readily but stays to wet. corms do not take in water, roots do.???

If you want to try again you need to let me know when you'd like me to ship.
If you prefer to wait until spring that's fine.
