Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

![]() This was a cross between a Blue Java Ice Cream Banana and a local wild Raspberry Banana.
We'll be pollinating many of our cultivars with different wild types and should have plenty of extra seeds available for members. If you are interested I'd recommend starting with fruit that you'd like to taste and get the seeds for free. The seeds did not affect the flavor of the bananas and they were easy to find.

I'll post updates as bunches become available. There's a variegated bunch that needs to be checked in the next few days and if it has seeds I'll make an update. Thanks ![]()

Thanks! I would like to grow both the crossed one and pure blue java. Can I be hopeful to get the seeds? I would also like to know the cost for the seeds (as it involves lot of effort, knowledge and experience) |

![]() It takes about 4 months from pollination to harvest. I randomly check some fingers about a month prior to harvest.

![]() Is the variegation stable? I think you need to start thinking of a name for your new cultivar.

![]() This is a pisang awak seedling from seeds that I collected out of bananas I have had in the Philippines in February.
There is a bit of varigation in it as well. Unfortunately I dont know what banana was the pollen donor. What is strange so far is, it made 14 or 15 small leaves until now. None of them was a normal shaped banana leaf. The one that is unrolling now could be the first real leaf.
