I'm in Western Montana, about 70 miles north of Missoula.
Nice hot day today(low 70's) the snows melting quick, and alot of the decidous trees are bent over now. Quote:

That's a very beautiful country there in Kalispell and Whitefish. I had the pleasure of traveling through there several times from the Kalispell airport to Blackfoot, just east of Browning on the reservation for project inspections. I remember coming back one time through the Sunset Highway and I didn't know that that was the national park and you had to pay to get in. Fortunately, the park ranger let me though without paying after seeing that I was wearing a suit and no camping gear. Also, one mid-May, I drove through there and at one of the bends on the road near a waterfall, the spray from the falls was falling on the car's windshield like hail. That's how cold it was then, and it was mid afternoon with full sun. The wind was blowing hard on the lake that it was forming surf-like waves that were odd shaped. I can see where they got the idea that there is a Loch Ness monster-like creature in that lake. Oh! and there were still patches of snow on the grazing fields then, too. |

I like your descriptions. I've been to Browning a few times, really windy spot.
Glacier park is definatly the best place to visit in Montana, besides maybe the hot springs that are here and there. Did you drive on the "going to the sun" road? I found these pictures, they aren't mine, but Glacier park is really a magical and breath taking place. ![]() ![]() Maybe that's the waterfall? |

And that's the waterfall next to the road. So, so, pretty!!! And to the right as you exit from the airport in Kalispell, there is an Italian restaurant that serves a mean pizza! The dough is awesome! Oh! and the weather we're having here in Seattle? A co-worker has just named a "new" month - the month of "Juneuary"! |

Yeah they like doing these massive ponderosa pine supports here on all the buildings now- Grocery stores, government buildings, and even some gas stations, lol.
We have been having some of your "juneuary"(lol), but today it's turned the corner hopefully. I think the Italian place was called Roccos, but it burnt up a bit, so now there's not a single Italian food place here in Kalispell. That's one thing about this area, lot's of good restaraunts, and when something new opens people pack the place, but if it sucks it goes away. Another thing is the people seem more friendly here than most places I've been, but less so in Browning, but I might not be either if I was on the "res". |
