Dan and Bo. I did a small, unreplicated experiment with bunch pruning of Dwarf Namwah. Two flowers emerged within two weeks of each other, both were the same size. I pruned off several hands to keep 8 on one and left the other unpruned and left the bell on. The fruit were bigger on the pruned bunch, but the time to ripen was no different. Your results may vary!

Ante.... I hear you neighbor

TJ.....Looks like you got some happy bananas there. I'll work on the camera thing soon. Maybe we can have a meet before winter, I really need to thin my heard of monsters, he he.

Dan....I will be trying that trick on these DN. My PK is doing very good and about 3 ft. tall. The winter prep worked great on it, I hope to see a pup soon, and thanks again.

Thanks for all ya'lls help.

Yep- my mats are pretty crowded also - Are you going to thin your pups before winter? or early next spring? Looking for advice - I may need a backhoe for the orinoco mat.

TJ....DisneyButterfly 1 is supposed to come over in a week or two. I did'nt give away the truckloads like the previous year so I have an over abundance of Saba, Raja Puri, Orinoco, Goldfinger, Tall and Dwarf Namwah. My Orinocos are extra nice.

10 bunches of Banana's. They should be ready around December. 5 ice-cream, 2 Dwarf Cavendish, and 3 unknown banana.

Great - she's picking up more squirrel food...

If you have enough and you recommend the DNam fruit, I wouldn't mind trying a DN pup. My GF, T. Namwa, and orinoco have large and small pups need to thin soon. I have smaller pups (not ready to thin yet) on Double, D Braz., Caligold, SD Cav., D. Cav - let me know what you want, I'll be heading that way before winter sets in
Even if we don't have the annual get together.

Hi Mark. Time saved was only about a few weeks. But if frost is normal in late Oct, early Nov then that may be good enough to plump the fruit a bit more.

The difference for the two bunches that I pruned or not was 12 days, out of 8 months. I guess that could help if you had a frost in one of those 12 days!

I left about 8" of rachis below the bunch. You can see most of it in this photo.

How do you recommend doing bunch pruning?

TJ....I have a Dwarf Namwah with your name on it. I would like to get that Dwarf Brazillian if you or Charles can spare one. I should be home for a couple of weeks if you get to my area.
Also discovered a bunch hanging from one of my smaller Sabas.

Hey Bo -Wow that is great - Thanks -I'll try to get over soon for the D Namwa and coffee (how high do they get)
The mother D Braz pstem is about 6 ft high and is circled with 5 or 6 young pups they are about 1 ft high and very close to the pstem - I think it may be a little early to separate from mom. I'll check closer and get back to you. do you want the D. Braz before you leave or later?

No, that's a pretty typical size bud for tall Namwah.
