Plant on the Right is my VC I got from Steve, pic is from 071712

Here is the VC 3 months later

I think its a great plant for people who can store properly over winter and gives them a good shot of growing banana's in a marginal area's such as 7a-8a where it gets very warm in the summer, and into the fall. :^)

Mine all died. I had one flower very late in the year and they never developed and that entire mat froze to death. My greenhouse was too crowded and I was hoping that at least one would survive the winter but they proved to be very susceptible to cold weather.

So here we go... Not fully ripe, I'm sure them peels have some more flavor in them for the nanners.. Started on the tart side and finished w/ a citrus flavor.. Not mealy, or soft like an orinoco, but not a treasure like a Manzano. Like I said not completely there but still better than a Cavendish.. :^)

Peel is thin but surely has more for the nanners since the ends are still green.

So I had 5 (3 this morning and 2 this evening) today and I'm sure they will be better over the next 2-4 days.. I think I have 14 left from the top half of the bunch after giving some to the Neighbors & Friends here.. So I'll be glad when the bottom half gets ripe.. :^)

Well its day 5 from cutting and the top half of the bunch are gone.. The peel is getting really thin but not turning black. They are sweetening up and have a kiwi-ish flavor to me. I think I'll have a couple in my cereal in the morning.. :^)

This was good.. One thing I noticed this morning.. the bottom fingers (banana poppers) have that black thing on the end of the banana (like the reds I ate) that you want to throw away, but its not present on the upper fingers.. :^)

Well its been a week and a day since I cut the bunch.. Banana's are a little sweeter, but have the same fruity flavor, peels are paper thin. My squeeze says they are so thin it a pain to peel them, since the peel breaks easily. I find after eating one this morning then a manzano not completely (they need to sit another day or two) to my liking my vote goes to VC hands down.. :^)

That's right I had to have another VC.. :^)
