Chris, I was just looking at these yesterday on the Agristarts website. Unless I am reading it incorrectly, these are like $1.00 per plantlet, minimum order of 72, plus shipping. If shipping and handling comes to $28 (assumption for round numbers) that's $100. for 72 plants, or around $1.39/plantlet. How do you come up with $15/plant, plus shipping?

Am I missing something?

Scot,

You are not missing anything aside from getting incorporated and sending them your tax id info and raising 72 plants of which 15% perish over the next 4 months. If you feel the price is not fair I am sure Stokes or Plant Delights will be offering them before long. Of course then you would be going outside the family.

Chris, Agri-Starts does not require its customers to incorporate. When I spoke to them previously about purchasing something from them, they did not even mention needing my Taxpayer I.D. or Employer Identification Number.

Do you have any photos of what larger versions of these plants look like?

Agristarts told me they would have some in about a month or so, they are in there busy season right now so it may be a little longer.

I don't think Margarita is the same as the yellow form Siam Ruby, because they're offering them separately as "siam Yellow" at a different price. I have a few of the margarita coming. Maybe Ty will speak up here if he reads this and let us know.

p.s. Siam yellow isn't new. It's the ones that don't turn out as red ones during tissue culture.

Sandy,

Correct Siam yellow just has a yellow flower with green leaves
Margarita sounds really unique

I ordered a few of the Margarita, coming with my next order. But I haven't seen a picture or even a description of them. I just saw they had a new one I hadn't grown yet...They should be herein the next week or so, It's been too cold for them to ship here, so they're holding my order. I don't think they're going to be all that special, or else they'd be asking more $$ for them....lol....

I spoke to Ty about these and this is what he told me:
Quote:
Right now Margarita is our newest release & we are awaiting feedback from growers on its performance. We have had some repeat business so that is a good sign. We selected for the bright yellow chartreuse color. Supposedly yellow is going to be the color of 2009, so we have been trying to put together a line of yellow plants.
