![]() Hello, I'm new to growing banana plants in norther California. I got few types of banana plants shipped from Florida, they are doing well except for super dwarf cavendish plant. It was 8 in in height with 3 leaves when arrived, but now lost all it's leaves (drying) and roots seems to be rotting. Is there any possibility to save this plant, and what can I do? Thank you!

![]() Pictures would help. But from your description, you have TC plantlets. These are very difficult to grow for the adverage consumer and proper growing instructions are not provided.
These plants should still be in a greenhouse or shaded conditions with controlled humidity and misting for another 4 to 6 months. What you are describing is root rot due to over watering and low humidity within the house. It is not likely it will recover, but you could try. .... Wash the little plants corm with bleach water & dry. Then repot in a fast draining potting soil or sand (The pot MUST drain excess water out) and mist 2 or 3 times per day. Once a week mist with a little fertilizer (1 tsp of miracle grow per gal. of water). ..... Good luck ... |

![]() Thank you for the reply. I'm not able to load pictures, it says it was successfully uploaded to my album, but album contains no pictures. Tried multiple times.
Let me repot the plant right away. Thanks again Update: I saw two very small white roots among rotted ones, so there's little hope ![]() Last edited by snehalm512 : 03-23-2021 at 05:29 PM. |
