I hate to give you bad news but I would highly recommend not getting any banana material from Sri Lanka. They have Banana streak virus disease, yellow sigatoka disease, panamas wilt disease and banana bunchy top virus disease. You don't want any of those. And you definitely don't want to be the guy to import that disease here to the US and have it spread around the country. There are plenty of people here in the US that you can get Variegated Florida plants from. If price is your major concern than you could buy TC plants off ebay for cheap. But I don't think the risk is worth the reward when getting banana plants from Sri Lanka.

thanks. that sounds formidable. i will watch the address when the package comes. burn it if i have to.

but at 10 dollars including shipping my guess is that they will come from someplace close by. this is probably just a middleman. i don't think 10 bucks will cover shipping from sri lanka, i don't think. more worried about getting a paper plant.

I don't think you'll have to worry about that. I doubt you'll get what you ordered. Lots of scams like this on etsy nowadays. The good news is you can contact etsy to get your money back pretty easily.

what i am guessing is that will be tc's, they said corms but for 10 bucks their probably going to be small, small.

pr-giants told the darkman that florida's were being tc'd now, so this is probably going to be the start of a cheap florida tc.

Some sellers, from that part of the world, are calling actual seeds, "corms". Tissue culture 'Florida's" are widely available but the cheapest I have seen on the "Florida" is still in the $60.00 - $150.00 range. Most of tissue culture plants for sale are really small and you need very good conditions and use of some good skills to grow them up. I ordered some banana seed for $10.00 from over there in April but have gotten nothing. Knowing of the dangers of disease, I had planned to wash the corms or seed (whatever I got) in a bleach solution upon arrival then a very good fresh water wash followed by a fungicide application. Also the packaging would have been full strength bleached inside a sealed plastic bag or all of it thoroughly burned. This is a standard procedure I do for a lot of plant material, sometimes even for mainland U.S. packaging. Do not want to bring in any things that are not already here.

I got my Florida and nono TCs for ~$40 and have been growing them in my cabinet. My first one that got me into bananas is almost all green now. The other two are still small but I'm now discouraged so will try to get a pup somewhere eventually. One of the nonos is all green now too. Even banana TCs in my limited experience is a gamble even when the plants do well.

Yep same experience here, tried Etsy twice and both times been refunded ( Sri Lanka) , I did how ever purchase a variegated Florida TC from eBay a few months back after being quite successful with other'cheaper'ones, only to watch it slowly die, sadly can't afford another but perhaps in time the prices will decrease.

how long did you wait before you got your money back. they say i am getting mine anywhere from a month to 2 1/2 months. is why i am thinking tc's, you order them and then they make them. or they get your money and you forget your order.

I ordered same thing, very similar won't be here until September from same place but they have a review of someone who purchased the Florida and shared a picture so we will see. At this rate if I do get them I will be fighting the winter.
