Hey Everyone,
From NY and trying to grow my Ensete Maurelii in the foyer. South facing with ceiling high enough to house a full grown Maurelii. I'm running into some problems. Over the past couple of days the younger leaves have been developing this orange-ish color, starting at the tips then working their way to the rest of the leaf. First time owner of Maurelii. I've been following all the instructions from what I've read. I've been misting every day, fertilized once (last week) since I got the tree, and never let the soil dry out. Does it look like something as simple as under/overwatering or something more serious that I need to take action? Thanks for your help guys !! First time posting so I'll try to upload pictures correctly |

Hello ! For what i know Ensete Maurellii has reddish orange with green on her leaves ! I think it's pretty normal although i am not sure . What i have seen also in person in some 'nurseries of plants' (*sorry for my english i am italian) is that their colours are pretty on the reddish spectrum ! Cheers

Being a houseplant, and houseplants being particularly susceptible to over watering, that would be my first guess.
I am not an expert, and I did kill my maurellii early this spring by over watering (and it did not take much at all!!), but my general default with houseplants is to wait to water until they show a little bit of water stress, or at a minimum the soil is dry. Edwmax has a lot of posts on this subject and often recommends getting a soil moisture gauge and checking before watering. I would peruse some of his posts as he seems quite knowledgeable in this area. If it were me I would let it dry out a bit, assuming you haven't done that, and see what happens. Good luck

Thanks guys! I got some input from a friend who suggested that it could be fertilizer burn. I looked it up and it seems to resemble what ive seen. Any suggestions for that ? just flushing the soil ?

Too much water, let it dry out between watering. Make the roots go to the water or they will not grow.
