Thanks for this great forum!
I bought a few Musi Manzano plants four years ago, and we had a cold winter and I thought they were dead, but one of them came back and is starting to produce right now, plus has put up two pups! Then, I went to the Orange County Rare Fruit Growers meeting a couple of weeks ago and won a Misi Luki in a raffle and got that in the ground the next day. So, I guess I'm going to get hooked on bananas. My wife puts more time into the garden than I do, and we grow everything organically. But, we seem to grow weeds better than anything else! We have a 900 square foot vegetable garden (which is mostly between harvest and winter planting now), another area about the same size that is all strawberries, and a few fruit trees (avocado, peach, lemon, orange, persimmon, and a 4-in-one with peach, apricot and plum). I'm looking forward to learning more about bananas - and getting my first crop in a few months! George |

Thanks for the quick welcome messages!
The Manzano bloomed in mid-July (I think, I failed to write down the date). I'm assuming that this means it should be ready to pick in late December or early January - is that right? Since you're near me Mitchel, is that about the right timing from bloom to ripeness for southern CA for this variety? George |
