I read the improvement was resistance to disease... I don't remember what the disease is but it is something that is inherent in Mysore.
Supposedly the fruit's flavor is the same. I don't know about the Keling being Mysore but Ceylon is.

Varieties I supposedly bought: Manzano, Cavendish, Blue Java, Sweetheart, and Gros Michel.
What it seems I actually have: Brazilian, Cavendish, Namwah, Dwarf Red, Gros Michel, Pisang Ceylon, Veinte Cohol and SH 3640, and American Goldfinger. FHIA 1, Paggi and FHIA 17... Always room for one more.

Pisang Ceylon is an improvement of the original Mysore Nana Variety, resistant to the (BSV) Banana Streak Virus disease......

Perhaps the improvement is with respect to both BSV as well as structurally. Just my thoughts.

Also, I thought P. keling, ceylan and ceylon were all synonyms.

The improvement in Pisang Ceylan over Mysore is just related to expression of BSV.

I had both P. Ceylon and Mysore in the field next to each other. They were virtually indistinguishable.
