I have a Nikon CoolPix 8700D, which is an 8 mp automatic camera the size and shape of a DSLR - it was the camera that Nikon put out when they were figuring out how to configure the new 10 mp DSLR. It has an excellent macro-adapted lens, but is just about useless for telephoto. To get many of those shots, I had to meter and pull focus on other subjects, then move the camera over to the bugs to get the shot, which was more than frustrating....

If I had a million dollars, I'd be getting the new 10 mp DSLR and a good macro lens, and then I'd be able to pull my own focus.

Found this guy today under a potted banana. As a kid I would turn over every rock and piece of wood in my yard looking for these. It's nice to know there still around

I think this is a gecko. I have a ton of them that come out at night. This one was out in the daytime though. I think they are really cute.

I like that long skinny one. Occasionally I will find a black, purple, and blue salamander. They are really quick and never get a picture of them though.

I'll need to get a better pic of these
I was working weeding the veggie garden area yesterday
Kept hearing a noise, didn't sound like a biord...so I was looking for a frog in the ponds
Well today clearing out the back 40' along the fence I found a bird nest in a bush
I had to hold the camera out at a weird angle to get the pic & of course a leaf blocked it

I have yet to see the mother bird
But have heard her going to & from the nest
They are blue eggs w/brown speckles
From looking online looks like they are probably just a sparrow
