What do you guys think I should do. I have a meyer lemon in a 1 gal container. I think it is reasonably acclimated now and I'm thinking of transplanting it. The problem is, the pot I have seems to be a pot of death as everything I put in it tends to die.

Should I transplant it to that pot or use another smaller pot?

Question Re: Insomnia Thread...

Describe the pot to me...plastic or clay? Good drainage holes?

Why do you figure plants are dying in this particular pot, Tom?

You want to grow your lemon tree in the kind of soil it will like, so you might want to dump the soil in that pot before you transplant your tree into it?

Humm, well, isn't the stuff you use for palm and cactus the same as you use for citrus?

I have to look in to that. I'm wondering if it isn't a drainage problem because the soil was still moist after a month without watering.

Oh, I found a snail on the side of the bucket. I think they are starting to invade.

Cool Re: Insomnia Thread...

Yeah you don't want to mess with the drainage and have your roots sitting in soggy soil. This would be a reason why stuff's dying on ya in that pot. Make a few more homemade drainage holes using a drill and the pot will be improved.

If that's the soil it likes than by all means...I just meant to give it the appropriate soil that it thrives best in.

Subject: MY LAST TRIP TO COSTCO

Yesterday I was at my local COSTCO buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for my loyal pet, Jake, the Wonder Dog and was in the check-out line when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog.

What did she think I had an elephant? So since I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again. I added that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.

I told her that it was essentially a Perfect Diet and that the way that it works is, to load your pants pockets with Purina Nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.)

Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care, because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stepped off a curb to sniff a poodle's ass and a car hit me.

I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard.

Costco won't let me shop there anymore.
Better watch what you ask retired people. They have all the time in the world to think of crazy things to say.

On another note,
I was searching on this:

round yellow eggs in soil

I just came across this:

If you used.. or the pot contained an abundance of slow release fertilizer.. with the wrong formula for your zone... especially applied directly to the trunk/crown/roots. Apparently the yellow round things in my soil are slow release fertilizer sooo...

you could have been heavily fertilizing your plant very late in the year.. when it should have been hardening off for a long hard winter like we have in z5/6 ...

which could lead to death ...

Talking Re: Insomnia Thread...

Makes sense to me, Tom.

Good you're taking note of things like this. Remember what I said about trial and error being the best teachers in gardening...not know-it-alls like Howard!

Teasing of course Howard...if you're even around.

That story really is funny, Hippie. I just died at the part about keeping them stuffed in your pocket and eating a couple when you get hungry!!! OMG that is too ridiculously comical.

Can't type...laughing too hard...

Well it might be time to hit the hay and call it a day!

Howard I hope you know I was only teasing with that wise-ass comment earlier. You know how I am.

Same thing with the 'dirty' picture...only a joke and all in good fun. I'm just glad I don't live on those streets!

Well it seems nobody's around so I'll say g'nighty night.

I started a new thread a few minutes ago and will post more pics in it tomorrow.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and has a good week ahead. Talk again soon...

Hope I can sleep!

'night y'all.

Hiya Re: Insomnia Thread...

Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening...whatever the case may be!

I was just noticing it wasn't snowing outside so it might be a good time to run an errand...not sure.

Hope everyone's having a good Monday so far and looking forward to the week ahead. It's pretty cold here today.

My email service is currently down so I'm just waiting for it to be up and running again. It's been 20 minutes already. This never happened before. I hope it won't be down all day...that would
suck.

It's not too sunny here today but it's bright.

Chat soon...

Boy, its good to be home in a warm bed. It was -8F this morning. I had problems starting my car. I eventually got it started and got to work. Currently it is 2F and starting to drop again.

Did your email come up yet?

I know Drew...the tears were rolling I was laughing so hard. I couldn't get the imagery of some guy nibbling on dog biscuits, out of my head!

Yes Tom, my email is working now but it was down for like three hours! Glad it's working again.
