Actually, you can make a cool/semi-dangerous thing with sparklers....get a 4" PVC pipe, fill it jam-packed with sparklers, then pull one of the center ones out an inch or two. Light the 'fuse' and STEP BACK! Whoever voted sparklers aren't dangerous didn't know how to PROPERLY abuse them!!! Don't worry...it doesn't blow up...just 10-20 foot flames....very satisfying, IMO!

How long of a piece of 4" pvc are we goning to need, I'm a bit of a pyro when it comes to fireworks as well most of my friends, ths one I think we may need to try!

Eh..pretty short...about the length of the sparklers, not much longer if any. Last time we did it, the heat was so intense it melted the inside of the PVC.

You can also make a MacGyver-style bomb with a few common household ingredients: 20 oz pop bottle w/cap + quarter to half full of 'the works' toilet bowl cleaner + bunch of pieces of shredded up aluminum foil. Put cap on tightly, shake vigorously a few times, set on ground and STEP BACK (wait...it takes a while to build up pressure, but the explosion is loud and again...satisfying LOL ). But you didn't hear any of this from me *hides*

I'm a good kid...really....just a little hardcore and mischievous. Well, that and a PYRO!

Did the one with the pop bottle, but used different ingredients, the police came on that one so I can't really publish it here, was loud as heck but really not destuctive, so no tickets were issued, just a very stern warning from the officer and some advice to grow up, that was ten years ago, we've become friends since then

Well I wouldn't exactly recommend doing ANY of the aforementioned things within city limits. I am a farm boi...always have been (and as soon as school ends, I'm def moving back to the country!). The freedom offered by living in a rural location simply is NOT attainable within city limits...even a 'cool' city/town. In the country, we can burn/blow up, ignite, destroy virtually whatever we want and no one ever seems to care. I guess for certain things you should have a burn permit, but that's about the max of restrictions you have (and that's easy enough to obtain). Be safe and have fun!

Always Safe, and trying to find new moderated ways off pyro entertainment. gonna have to try the sparkeler thing, we used to take bottle caps, bluetip matches and some tape to make whistlers out them when I was a kid, good fun, parents hated it but nobody ever got hurt and nothing but a couple of bottle caps and some scotch tape got messed up. those things would fly all over the yard.

Oh, there are all manner of interesting homemade explosives guys! From one pyro to another, though, it's always better when your experiments don't attract the cops...

I'm currently learning how to make fireworks from an artesan here. It's quite interesting.

Yeah, I have a relative (not sure the actual relation) who has a license to do pyrotechnics that does a nice fireworks display for family/friends each year. I think that'd be very cool to be able to do. But I enjoy my own type of fireworks just as much! Something about flames spinning rhythmically around your body mere inches away from you is such an amazing rush and a truly exhilarating experience!

The Pyro Ticket was the first thing I got when the electives came up, followed by Firearms. I'm quite safe around things that blow up, and it's really quite nice to be able to do it legally. I've got the burns to prove it, lol!

Thank you Damaclese for the comment about CA/NV/AR and other dry areas. If your area is dry or prone to forest fires, etc you should NOT be playing with fire. My area would be difficult to start such a fire in due to the layout, vegetation, moisture/wind conditions etc. But I'm still always very safe when I do anything fire-related. We have a large gravel driveway that we used to do stuff like that in....and it is 30 feet in any direction of pure gravel to anything.

Fire is lots of fun when used safely...but can also get very out of control when the proper precautions are not taken. So please be SAFE....then have fun (but always in that order!).

Around July 4th, 2 guys lit a military flare (1 got it when he was in the military) & it landed on top of the Patrick Cudahy meat packing plant just south of MKE. It took about 3 days to put it out. Major damage - if not totalled. Ppl out of work etc. These guys are going to jail prolly for a long time.
