Re: current weather
Although the official hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, our hurricane season starts when the weather from the Cape Verde region pushes the weather systems down the Atlantic - usually about September 1.
And here they are - just about on time! Currently we have Earl with his closest approach to the north coast of the Dominican Republic upgraded from 900 miles to 286 miles today, and behind him is the next system soon to be called Fiona. They come off the African coast like bowling balls at this time of the year - and it might be time start preparations for the hurricane party for Earl! Who thought that weather could be such fun!! |

Re: current weather
Earl has tattered the USVI and BVI, and is currently soaking Purto Rico from a hundred miles offshore. Be nice now Earl - we don't want too much water in our vodka do we Patty?

Re: current weather
Good luck Cassie. If you have the party we want pics!

Re: current weather
Sorry Howard - no party pictures this time as Earl turned out to be a damp squib with lots of overcast, a few puffs of wind and 2.5 inches of rain! Next time maybe?

L.A.'s hottest day ever How hot was it? The National Weather Service's thermometer downtown reached 113 degrees for the first time since records began being kept in 1877 — and then stopped working. The record highs follow a summer of record lows |
