42 degrees cold at 12:48 AM!
My baby bananas are cuddled under a U-Haul blanket pad --that should give them some protection from the cold.first cold night of the fall here. |

Not good! Hurricane warning! We are dead center of projections. My biggest concern is the citrus trees--loaded with fruit to the point of almost breaking limbs from the weight of fruit. I am worried that the winds will break a lot of limbs and strip fruit. I have tried to stake and tie branches as much as possible, but I am sure there will be some damage.
Pecan tree will be the next biggest problem--it too is loaded and just starting to drop nuts, but many are still in solid green husk. Likely to get some broken limbs there. Bananas in containers, I can lay down, but I wonder if I should cut leaves from the inground pstems to prevent breakage of larger plants. Any suggestions? |

Jack and Ante! Send that rain my way. Ecuador's in a drought so bad that we've got rolling blackouts - not enough rain has fallen to fill the reservoirs at the hydro projects.
This said, it's about 110 here with no clouds in sight, and 90% humidity. We're all praying that we'll get a thunderstorm with actual rain tonight. |

Good news is that they have downgraded the storm--it is no longer expected to hit as a minimal hurricane--just a tropical storm. I staked and tied the citrus trees and they are not moving at all in the wind. So far, this looks like just a rain event.
Lorax, I wish I could send you this rain--we are already a foot over normal and this one rain will probably exceed the normal rain for Nov by itself. |

We ended up with 4 inches of rain and a gusty, misty day today. Really nasty but it could have been much worse. Just some broken leaves on the ornatas.
Now if it would just LEAVE!!!!!!! Russell |

Ida was the kind of hurricane I like--one that fizzes out and doesn't rain too much--4 inches is plenty.
No damage here--just put a few pecans on the ground. |

We finally had our first significant rain since last spring, and it put down a 1/4 inch.

Send some warmth up here, Richard. We've had cold weather early, with frosts coming about a month earlier than historical averages. We had our 5th day of frost on 11/30 and looks like we'll have frost again later this morning. Not too heavy, though, so my bananas are keeping their leaves so far. The days warm up nicely, though. I think we hit the mid 60s yesterday.

Gosh, Beth, hope you don't dry out like a prune!
We're at 32.1F right now and that almost sounds better than your weather. |
