Here's a view of the San Marcos (Washingtonia) fire from my yard at about 9pm. It's about 6.5 miles to the SE.

It was cool, partly cloudy all day and now it's sprinkling on and off.

High 60's and low 70's for lows and mid to high 80's for highs the next 7 days. Low chances of rain all week.

This is the time to do all the heavy work. Got 4 new mangos and chokes to plant.

And the pompano are in the river. Hard choices!!!

No. We are very happy for the rain. Last year we only received 4.5 inches total and this year we are hoping for something closer or above our 7.5 inch annual average.

We're expected to have 2-3 inches today. Flash flood warnings in our area.

Another inch of rain is forecast to arrive here Tue-Wed. That will bring us up to 4.5 inches total since 9/1/2014 - the same amount we received for the entire year 9/1/13 through 8/31/14.

The nice part down here in San Diego is the precipitation is spread out over 24 or so hours and sinking in most places. There are areas of past fires etc. that have flash flood danger and it is always a cautionary time out in the desert. But overall, I'm looking forward to it.

Yesterday we had a very nice rainfall of about 1/4 inch. No heavy downpours, it sunk in well.

Of course afterwards, the snails and slugs came out. This morning I bombed them by spreading about 4 pounds of Sluggo about the yard with a handheld scatterer.
