Recently, my computer had been acting up and, when I brought it in for service, the guy said we would have to wipe it clean and start over. I am gradually getting things back, but some things come back a little different from what they were. One of the things is the date and time, in the lower right hand corner. I had it set up to read day, date and 24 hour time, ie: Monday, 8 Nov. 2010, 1430. Now I just get the time as AM and PM, with no day or date. I know there is a pretty simple way to change this, but I can't find it. Can anyone help?
Also, the numbers are a little off the screen, as shown. The bottom portion can't be seen. ( I had to reproduce this, so it wouldn't be covered by the BANANAS. org logo, but that's about what it looks like.) Is there any way to raise these numbers a tiny bit? Thanks for any help. [IMG] |

Usually if you right click on the toolbar, one of the choices on the popup menu is adjust date and time. You also may be able to simply bring your lower (or upper, as the case may be) edge of your screen in by right clicking on the very edge. If you get the double-headed arrows, just pull it in to where you want it. This is for Windows XP; I have no experience with 7 or Macs.

Thanks, Howie. I thought what you said was what I had done last time, but whwn I went to Adjust time, that's all you can do, move time forward or back, etc., but that's about all you can do; not change the format.
The thing with the double headed arrow works on lines above this, but not on that very bottom line. |

OK, well, that about exhausts my computer geekdom knowledge. Good luck, John. Maybe Jarred or some other comp-savvy soul will help.

Thanks. I did what you said, and it worked, but it is still not what I had before/want again.
What I have now, is a bar (taskbar?) at the bottom, that is at least an inch and a half high. (on a 17 inch monitor) The bar is 3 lines high, and reads as follows: 12:50 AM Wednesday 11/10/2010 What I had, and would like to have again, is, on one line: Wednesday 10 November 2010, 2310. |

Date display is a built-in function for Windows 7 but not for Windows XP or Vista. For Windows XP and Vista, you'll need some third-party software, such as TClock. But TClock appears to display date and time in two lines; it's not what you had before.

OMG. What Windows is that?
I don't even recognize the font. The settings depend on the version. If you want to have the field large enough to display date and time, it should be dragged up to twice its typical height. To remove AM/PM, go to preferences and set date format (it can be among localization preferences in some Windowses).

Thanks folks. I'm using Windows XP.
I did get this problem resolved. Someone gave me this link. Setting XP to Use 24-Hour Clock Obsessed with the Press That got me the 24 hour clock, and got rid of the AM/PM, but it was still on three lines. Then, I found this second link. TClockEx - Taskbar Clock Enhancer This got everything back on one line, like I wanted it. Upon looking back, I could probably have done it with just the second link. |
