Looking for some help from folks in the Miami and Daytona area's of Florida. I will be in the Miami area around February 10th or so, going to a wedding on the 13th and then we are going to the Daytona 500 on the 14th, any great Banana or tropical places I should check out. We are traveling by motorhome and so...I am not at all familiar with this part of Florida and looking for any ideas. I know there are restrictions on citrus plants, any problem with bringing Banana plants home? Thanks for your help in advance

Thanks, I knew about the citrus, I grow them also, but wasn't sure about the Banana's. Thanks for your suggestion Jeff, I have purchased from Going Banana's so that would be fun!

Hi Joan, lucky you to go to FL w/ the cold, snowy winter we are having! I was in Orlando area in '06 & found some really nice citrus at a nearby Walmart. Took them home via back of my car & no one checked. That was just before the ban on citrus though, but I'd do it again. All the big box stores there sell citrus & I'm sure nanas & other tropicals.
If You go to Pine Island, please take some pics! It's where I bought my Dragon fruit from

If you are in the Miami area, you would shoot yourself if you don't visit Fairfield Tropical Botanical Gardens...Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden
Daytona has a flea market near the raceway that has a nursery there called "Butcher's Nursery". Have some awesome plants there, but don't recall if they had bananas or not... Daytona Flea & Farmers Market Nursery Have a BLAST!!! |
